This Sunday, the 9th of April, is Palm Sunday, date when Holy Week officially starts in Spain.
On Palm Sunday Christians commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on a donkey, and because of this the images that are taken out in procession that day represent this beautiful scene.
As its name states Palm Sunday is linked to palms and olive branches as according to Matthew the Apostle when Jesus entered Jerusalem the crowd layed clothes, palms and branches on the ground to welcome him while he was acclaimed as King and son of God. It is because of all this that nowadays olive branches and palms are blessed in the mass previous to the procession and are kept in homes during the whole year normally beside a picture or figure of Jesus.
If right now you are on holiday at Hotel Angela, your hotel in Fuengirola, and you fancy experiencing a traditional Spanish Palm Sunday we have good news for you as you will not have to go too far to enjoy it. Although the processions that take place in Malaga city are stunning and better known all over Spain, in Fuengirola we also have some amazing ones, therefore next Sunday we recommend you to visit Fuengirola city centre at about 1:00P.M and to take your camera with you as you will be able to take breathtaking pictures.
