Did you know that one of the most important film festivals in Spain is held in Málaga and that this is about to start?

This festival, celebrated from Friday the 17th till Saturday the 26th of March, was held for the first time in 1998, which means this year will be its 20th edition.

In spite of being quite a recent festival, it always receives a lot of attention from locals, onlookers and the press as many very famous Spanish actors and directors attend it.

In the Malaga Film Festival there are showings of the newest and most outstanding Spanish films of the year and also honorific awards are handed over.  As Malaga is the host city these awards are in the shape of a biznaga as this is one of the most important symbols of the city. The most important award of this festival is the “Golden Biznaga” and this is given to the film the jury considers as best of all the ones presented on the festival.

While the festival is on the atmosphere in Malaga is quite charming and cheerful and the city looks even more glamourous and lovelier than normal. The festival takes place in different spots of the city centre, though the core is Teatro Cervantes as it is there where the most important films are shown and where the main red carpet is.

If you love Spanish films and you are currently on holiday at Hotel Angela, your hotel in Fuengirola, we certainly recommend you visit the capital of Costa del Sol these days!!
