Last month here on the blog of Hotel Angela we told you about the new gourmet market in Puerto Banus, so today continuing with the food topic we started last week with the Erotic Tapa Route, we would like to recommend you to visit another fantastic gourmet market, this time in Malaga city.
This market is called Mercado de la Merced and it is located very close to Plaza de la Merced, a very famous square right in the city centre where local artist Pablo Picasso got born 134 years ago.
Mercado de la Merced is new but at the same time old as for many year it was a tradicional market with a few stalls where people from the neighbourhood did their shopping.
Nowadays after a massive makeover it has become a fantastic gourmet market where people can do their shopping and also have a fantastic time having all kind of tapas with friend.
It now looks trendy, cosmopolitan and fun. It is a busy and lively place in a great location that not only supports modern and traditional cuisine but also art as since it opened on the 29th of September it has housed some fantastic exhibitions.
The unique jackets of Spanish celebrity chef Alberto Chicote have been on display there up to the 25th of October and now there is an exhibition on called “The Streght of Art”.
