Last week we dedicated our blog to the delicious borrachuelos as were already warming up for Holy Week.
This time Holy Week has officially started and as you can imagine we are very happy about it.
Many of you, being such loyal guests, might have experienced the Holy Week of Los Boliches and Fuengirola already, but you possibly don’t know much about the celebrations that take place in other parts of Costa del Sol.
Because of this we would love the recommend you not to miss the Holy Week of one of our most beautiful neighbouring towns: Benalmádena.
As you know there are 2 different areas in this town: Benalmádena Pueblo, which is a beautiful hillside whitewashed town, and Benalmádena Arroyo de la Miel, which is more cosmopolitan and right by the coast.
Well, in Benalmádena Pueblo the religious celebrations during Holy Week are amazing and highly recommended as they are quite unique.
For example on Holy Friday is when the procession of Virgen de la Soledad takes place. This procession is on well after midnight and it is done in complete silence, something that is not common at all and which makes it a quite special intimate event.
Another outstanding one is the staging of the Passion of Christ. This is known as “El Paso” and it is represented by residents of Benalmadena who become actors for the day. “El Paso” will be represented both on Holy Thursday and Friday at 11:00 A.M in a park called “El Retamar”, which is right by the beautiful Buddhist stupa and the popular Butterfly Park.
As you can see there are lots of attractive options for you to enjoy, so it is almost impossible not to have cool plans while on holiday at Hotel Angela, your hotel in Fuengirola.
