As we told you in our previous post the next few weeks we are going to introduce you to the great professionals in charge of our refurbishing project.

The first person we want you to meet is Laura Ezcurra, the architect who has designed what the new Angela is going to be.

We interviewed her and here you have what she told us:

Is it as difficult to be in charge of an architectural project for a house as for a hotel?

No, the project for a hotel is much more difficult than for a house. A hotel is like organizing a “small city”. Not only have I had to think about the areas used by guests but also about the rest of spaces and premises that guests might not see but that are important for the smooth running of the hotel and the comfort of guests.

Is this the first project you do for a hotel or you have been in charge of the refurbishment or design of other hotels?

No, it is not my first project for a hotel. I have previously collaborated in the design, decoration and construction of a few hotels in Malaga city (Vincci and Novotel).

How would you define the new Angela?

The new Angela is most of all a hotel of great quality. The lounge and restaurant areas are bigger. Some spaces have been modified to make it easier for people with mobility problems. In the lounge big windows have been designed in order to make it a lighter room and to ensure the skyline and sea view. The transformation of the premises inside the building has been big as it was essential to make it more comfortable and safer to guests.

What is your favourite part of this project?

My favourite part of the project is the construction of the new infinity pool that will be located on the first floor and that will allow guests to enjoy the beautiful view of the coast of Fuengirola and the Mediterranean Sea while swimming.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Participating in this project has been fascinating. The biggest challenge has been to find the balance between the old building and the new one. I had to find the harmony when introducing new and more modern features as I wanted to avoid having two buildings with nothing in common.

Would you like to send a message to our guests?

I hope they feel comfortable in the New Angela as that was my biggest aim. The changes made are to ensure their comfort during their stay in Spain, making it an unforgettable experience and making them feel as at home when visiting the Angela.

Thanks a lot for the interview, Laura!

It has been a pleasure to us to meet her, and we hope it has been a pleasure to you too. We are sure that after reading this, you are even more eager to see the final result of the Angela.
