Have you been coming to the Angela for many years and you haven’t experienced our Holy Week yet? If you are currently on holiday at Hotel Angela, your hotel in Fuengirola, you might like to know that this week in Spain we are celebrating our Holy Week, so as every year Fuengirola has joined the celebration by offering some amazing processions for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Holy Thursday and Good Friday are bank holidays in Spain and also the most important days of the week. These two days the number of visitors in the region rises considerably as not many people would like to miss the Holy Week of Malaga or the ones celebrated in other areas of Costa del Sol.
On Holy Thursday and Good Friday is when the most popular and expected processions take place. On Thursday at 8:30 P.M two processions will start in different parts Fuengirola though both of them will end up visiting the Nuestra Señora del Rosario church located at Plaza de la Constitucion as this is considered the core of the city. The first of these two processions to arrive there will do it at 9:15 P.M and will stay till 10:00 P.M. At 10:00 P.M will be when the second of them arrives, so if we have awaken your curiosity we recommend you to visit this church that evening…we are sure you have never seen something as impressive!
If on the other hand you prefer to enjoy the Holy Week during the day we recommend you to visit Plaza de Constitucion on Good Friday instead as at 11:00 A.M is when the Via Crucis celebrations will take place.
That same day at 8:15 P.M the procession of our Holy Virgin of la Soledad will start in Calle Cordoba, right in the city centre, visiting Iglesia del Rosario at Plaza de la Constitucion at about 9:15 P.M. If you are there at that time to see this procession we recommend you to stay a little bit longer as from 9:45 P.M to 10:30 P.M the penance station of Cristo de la Expiracion, Our Holy Mother of los Dolores and Saint John Evangelist will happen there. At 10:30 P.M when this is over it will be when the procession of Cristo de la Caridad, Cristo Yacente de la Paz and the Holy Virgin del Amor y Soledad gets there too.
As you can see on Holy Thursday and Good Friday many events will take place at Plaza de la Constitucion, so if you love Holy Week we recommend you not to miss it!
Youl will get to experience in Fuengirola something very unique!
