Springtime is coming to an end and summertime is round the corner. San Juan’s Night, the night of the 23rd of June, means the start of the summer and as it is getting closer here at Hotel Angela we have already started with the preparations for this important celebration.

On this important night the “Júas” are the highlight, but what is a “Júas”?

A “Júas” is a big handmade doll made with fabrics and other easy to find materials. It is thought that the name “Júas” comes from the name Judas, so the doll is supposed to represent the traitor apostle. As it represents an evil character the “Júas” gets burnt at midnight in order to leave bad things behind and start the summer in a good way.

In previous years here at Hotel Angela we have created our own doll, so this year we will do so again. Next Tuesday the 18th of june at 11:30 A.M our PR Alison will be by the pool helping you to make our own amazing “Júas”, it will be good fun!

As every year it will be a pleasure to us to celebrate the arrival of summer with all of you on Sunday the 23rd of June from 11:30 P.M. at the Rivera Beach Club, opposite Hotel Yaramar; you only have to sign up in reception.  We will see how our “Júas” burns away at midnight, will have a great time and we will welcome summer in a great way!

Are you ready for the change of season?
