The Fair of Fuengirola continues this week as it is on until the 12th of October.

As we explained on Friday, during our special activity about the fair, the Fair of Fuengirola is one of the most important in Costa del Sol, and thinking about it is thinking about beautiful flamenco dresses and the sound of “sevillanas” playing in the background.

Although the “sevillanas” is a typical dancing and singing originally from Sevilla it is heard and danced in all fairs and festivals in Andalusia.

“Sevillanas” is divided in 4 parts and it is usually danced in pairs. The lyrics can talk about many different topics like everyday life or important religious and love events among many other things.

Its origin is set around the Catholic Monarchs times and nowadays it is the most danced regional dance in Spain and abroad.

If right now you are on holiday at Hotel Angela, your hotel in Fuengirola, and have not visited the fair yet, we recommend you do it as there is still plenty of time.

You will surely have fun there and might enjoy seeing locals dancing this mesmerising dance!

Fair of Malaga 2017

It is mid August and this time of year is when the city of Malaga celebrates its fair.

This year the fair of Malaga started last Saturday the 12th of August and it will be on until Sunday the 20th.

Although the dates can vary a bit this is always on in mid August as it commemorates the reconquest of Malaga by the Catholic Monarchs on the 19th of August 1487.

The fair of Malaga is no doubt the most awaited event of the year not only for locals but also for tourists.

This amazing festival still has a traditional side even if it is quite cosmopolitan and international due to the big amount of visitors from all over the world who come to the city willing to enjoy it.

If at the moment you are on holiday at Hotel Angela, your hotel in Fuengirola, we certainly recommend you to visit this fantastic fair which is held from the morning to the early evening in the historical centre of Malaga, around the popular and well known Calle Larios.

There you will have the opportunity to see beautiful flamenco dresses, to watch people dancing the traditional sevillanas and to enjoy some fantastic music performances. Besides, you can also try some delicious tapas and amazing local wines in a very cheerful and happy environment.

As you know getting to Malaga from our hotel is cheap and easy thanks to the train service that connects Fuengirola with Malaga city.

Have lots of fun at the fair!
