The ”Júas”

17kesä

Springtime is coming to an end and summertime is round the corner. San Juan’s Night, the night of the 23rd of June, means the start of the summer and as it is getting closer here at Hotel Angela we have already started with the preparations for this important celebration.

On this important night the “Júas” are the highlight, but what is a “Júas”?

A “Júas” is a big handmade doll made with fabrics and other easy to find materials. It is thought that the name “Júas” comes from the name Judas, so the doll is supposed to represent the traitor apostle. As it represents an evil character the “Júas” gets burnt at midnight in order to leave bad things behind and start the summer in a good way.

In previous years here at Hotel Angela we have created our own doll, so this year we will do so again. Next Tuesday the 18th of june at 11:30 A.M our PR Alison will be by the pool helping you to make our own amazing “Júas”, it will be good fun!

As every year it will be a pleasure to us to celebrate the arrival of summer with all of you on Sunday the 23rd of June from 11:30 P.M. at the Rivera Beach Club, opposite Hotel Yaramar; you only have to sign up in reception.  We will see how our “Júas” burns away at midnight, will have a great time and we will welcome summer in a great way!

Are you ready for the change of season?

Fuengirola, ”Little Finland”

10kesä

It is quite obvious that Fuengirola is a very international town as it is visited by an important number of tourists and it also has many foreign residents, but did you know that Fuengirola has the biggest Finnish community outside Scandinavia?Centro Finlandia - Hotel Angela Fuengirola

The first Finnish arrived in the 70s and from that moment they have not really stopped.

Due to the big number of Finnish people who nowadays live in Fuengirola they have their own media and even their own Finnish school, a unique and outstanding school in Spain that it is considered to have an excellent educational system.

These days at Los Boliches Library you can even find some books in Finnish. The reason is that the majority of them loves Los Boliches and chooses the Los Pacos district as their favourite place to live, therefore the number of establishments owned by Finnish people in Los Boliches and Los Pacos is quite big.

By the way, have you ever visited the Finnish shopping centre in Los Boliches right beside Hotel Angela?

This shopping centre called “Centro Finlandia” is a reference to the Finnish community in Fuengirola, as there you can find all kind of Finnish establishments like shops with Finnish products, a restaurant or a beauty salon.

It is open from Monday to Friday from 9 A.M to 8 P.M and Saturdays from 10 A.M to 2 P.M.

As Hotel Angela is so close we encourage you to visit it. You will get to see the most international side of Fuengirola!!

We love horses

03kesä

At Hotel Angela we are real horse lovers and this has always being present in the hotel decoration.Restaurant of Hotel Angela - Hotel Angela Fuengirola

After the refurbishment the restaurant has a fresher and more modern look, but despite the changes we wanted the hotel to keep its essence, so because of this now some beautiful horses in metallic colour decorate the new walls. What do you think about them? To us they have the wow factor and we really love the contrast of colours.

As you know we have also been refurbishing the entertainment room as we wanted it to be a much more beautiful and comfortable place for you to enjoy the great shows we offer you. Today it is all about horses so we would love you to “adopt” the horses that have decorated the walls of our entertainment room for years.Posters from the Entertainment Room - Hotel Angela Fuengirola

The posters will be sold for modest price of 5 euros and all money raised will be donated to charity.

If like us you also love horses and you would like to have a “souvenir” from Hotel Angela at home please let us know by emailing us at rrpp@mlhoteles.com
