Always improving

04helmi

Although we are aware that Thomson might have informed you already about this, we would like to let you know that this winter we will close again our beloved Hotel Ángela, from November 2013 till March 2014, in order to continue our refurbishment.

Seeing the pictures of the current refurbishment, many of you ask us what we are doing at the back of the hotel, where the tennis court was. Well this is where the next stage of the refurbishment process will follow and the plan includes, amongst other details, a Spa for our hotel in order to offer you many more services and comfort while visiting Costa del Sol.

During this new stage we will also redo the staff areas and offices so the whole hotel gets a fresh start.

As for the current works, everything is going as planned and on the 17th of March we will be ready to welcome our first guests.

For those of you asking about the entertainment lounge downstairs, we have great news! We have kept the secret from you but it is time to reveal that there will be a lift for those of you that had some trouble going down the stairs. We are sure this is great news for all of you, as many have asked for this and it was not possible to do until now. On the other hand, we would like you to understand that the entertainment lounge will not reopen until summer, as this area will still have some more work done to it once we reopen in March.

Time flies and in a little less than a month we will be welcoming you all back. Meanwhile stay tuned to our Facebook page to see new pictures of the changes as now everything is starting to look finished.

Hotel Angela calling all poets

22tammi

Are you into writing? Are you good at poetry?

After so many years getting to know you and reading your suggestions we are aware that many of you are very creative people.

This has been the reason why Hotel Angela has decided to make the most of your skills to create something beautiful together.

Well, just before our refurbishment project started we received this beautiful poem from Mrs. Gerrard which made us have an idea…why not asking you to write something  beautiful related to Hotel Angela in order to share it with the rest of the guests?

After a lot of thinking we decided that the best thing to do would be to put all poems together somewhere in the hotel so this way everybody could read them and enjoy them plus this would also mean that a “little bit of you” would remain in Hotel Ángela even when home.

So dear guests take a paper and a pen, let your imagination run free and start writing.

The deadline is Wednesday the 20th of February and staff will choose the best 10 ones.

To send your poems please email us on rrpp@mlhoteles.com

Thanks a lot for your cooperation! We really are looking forward to reading everything you send us!

By the way, if you want to know more about Mrs. Gerrard and her writing, you can visit her website

Get to know: Paco Leal

16tammi

We have already introduced you to the architect and the decorator of our big project, so the last person involved in the project that we want to introduce you to (being the last doesn’t mean at all that he is less important, far from it!) is our mate Paco Leal, the maintenance service manager of our chain of hotels, and the person in charge of the refurbishment.

As Paco works for the Angela many of you might already know him and know how friendly he is. Anyway, here we leave you the interview we did to him so you can get to know a little bit more about him:

How long have you been working with us?

I’ve been working for over 24 years! Such a long time now!

What has been your biggest challenge?

This project has been quite complex, so no doubt, the biggest challenge is finishing it on time.

This autumn we have had many rainy days. Did the weather affect the works?

No, to be honest, it has not affected at all, as we have kept on working even when it was raining. Since we started on the 1st of November we have not really stopped.

What part of the hotel are you willing to see finished?

The swimming pool! Mainly because it was the most difficult part of this project.

Tell us any anecdotes or something funny that has happened while working?

The whole refurbishing process is full of anecdotes. Lots of funny things have happened. I would like to share with you an anecdote that happened just a few days ago, though it is not about the refurbishment. Every year on 3 Wise Men Day I get dressed up as King Baltasar. Last year talking to a little girl I said that the 3 Wise Men hand presents but that nobody gives us any, so this year it seems that she remembered it and that same girl came and gave me a picture she had done as present. That beautiful gesture moved me.

How many people are working in the refurbishing?

We are about 40, some of them are external personnel and some, like me, are members of staff.

Would you like to send a message to our guests?

Of course I do! I would like to tell them that I hope they love the result because we are working with all the love and dedication in the world.

Thanks a lot for the interview, Paco! You are a great professional so we are sure the result is going to be amazing and we all are going to love it.

Would you like to leave Paco a message or ask him something we didn’t? Do it on Facebook!

We will keep on informing you in here about many things that you might find interesting. Keep on visiting our blog!
